Ultrasound Liver Elastography

Ultrasound Liver Elastography is a new ultrasound non-invasive technique which measures the amount of fibrosis (stiffness) of the liver in those with fatty non-alcoholic liver, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and alcoholic liver disease. This technique helps determine the health of your liver.

Liver stiffness is a sign of fibrosis or scarring.

Early diagnosis is important for a fatty liver (NAFLD non-alcoholic fatty liver disease) which can lead to liver inflammation (called NASH non-alcoholic steatohepatitis).

A fatty liver can lead to cirrhosis and, in severe cases, to hepatocellular cancer (hepatoma).
